CW21 WTTO History

WTTO TV, Birmingham's fourth TV station, signed on April 21, 1982, as an Independent. Our popularity grew based on our strong line-up of classic dramas, sitcoms and films.

In 1990, WTTO TV became a Fox affiliate.

On January 27, 1997, WTTO switched to an affiliation with The WB Television Network.

In September of 2006 we became CW21, a network merging of the best of The WB and UPN, as well as presenting exciting new shows. CW21 is also Alabama's home for Classic Comedy, proudly airing family friendly programming including The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, and The Big Bang Theory

WTTO TV has long been an integral part of Birmingham and the surrounding communities of central Alabama with our personal involvement in local charities and family events

Our proud heritage of local sports programming, SEC Football (since 1997), SEC Basketball, and other popular sporting events grows every year.

We look forward to continuing to serve the needs of our neighbors, friends and families. As we say at CW21 - WTTO TV, the fun starts here!
